"Hear the Angels Sing" - miniature cantata (1999) - duration approx. 7 minutes

For treble choir (unison and/or parts), piano/organ, flute, trumpet, cello and percussion (tuned)

N.B.  As this work was initially composed for choir and piano, it can be performed without the additional instruments, or with piano and percussion only.

Tuned percussion are xylophone, marimba, chime bars, and handbells.  Select from this group any or all instruments.

World Premiere Performance:  28th November 1999, at Mt St Benedict Convent Chapel, Pennant Hills, NSW, Australia, by the Carlson Chorale.

It has been performed most successfully by a number of Sydney Private Schools for both Christmas Concerts and for their Speech Day and Prize Giving Awards Evenings

Chorally this work is most successful vocally for schools.  It has an interesting "round" in the centre of this cantata, which students enjoy singing.

"Hear the Angels Sing" was nominated "Song of the Year" in the Classical APRA/AMC Vocal awards in 2003.

Suitability:  Highly recommended for Primary School level; Junior Secondary School or Middle School; Church / Cathedral School Choirs.
